Halloween Decor

There's lots to say in this post... but more importantly it's about the pictures! :) This is one of those posts that will rely mostly on the images!

This wonderful drawing of Jack Skellington was done by my Husband Dan for our front door. We laminated it to keep it weather safe and used it as decoration! :D

I made this arrangement using Gold Canyon's "floating tea light trio" and Poison Apple candle.

The trio is filled with candy corn, craft leaves and beans. :)

I made this leaf vase centerpiece using craft leaves on twigs, beans in the bottom and ribbon with wire to tie a bow around the top of the vase.

The following are pictures of our appartment when we decorate annually for our big Halloween Party! :)

"Thankful" Jar

*** To make this I cleaned the wax out of an old candle jar using this method... Boiling Water Method.

I put the word "thankful" on the outside of the jar with white stickers. and then painted the inside of the jar brown. When the brown dried I painted over it with mod podge to help prevent the paint from chipping.

To finish it off I tied the bow around the top of the jar. :)

What I love most about this idea is what it is used for. On Thanksgiving I plan to bring this to our family gathering along with a pad of paper and pens. As we enjoy our meal and the day my hopes are that each person will add at least one thing that they are thankful for to the jar and towards the end of the day we can all sit around and read them aloud. :)

I love the way this turned out even tho it was just a random idea. I think I want to make one for each season now.. If I do, I'll update this post so you can all see :P It was so easy too... Here is what I did!

1. The board is just a thin mini canvas I found at Micheal's craft store.

2. I mixed red, orange and a little brown paint to get the background color. :) (HINT!: Always start mixing with the lightest color and slowly add the darker ones.)

3. Then I used a wooden dowel rod to make the twig the owls are sitting on.
  • All I did for the twig was use a hot glue gun to create texture (bumps & lines) across the rod and then when the glue dried I painted it brown.
4. The F, A, L, L are painted in the same brown as the rod. (I also found those at Micheal's.Once the letter's dried I glued them onto the canvas with mod podge.

5. Lastly, I glued the owls to each other and then onto the canvas with my hot glue gun. :)

5. Lastly I

Pumpkin Time!!!!! :)

We went to Huber's Farm yesterday for a fun fall day & picked pumpkins! :) These are the ones we chose and what we decided to do with them.

I love the white pumpkins, so my mission was to find one when we went pumpkin picking & I did! For this one I painted the stem black, and used a bottle of fabric paint with the tip to make dotted black vines all around the stem.

After painting on the vines I inked in the word boo with a thick black sharpie (It turns out so much cuter when you do this instead of trying to write with paint!) and then turned the O's into eyes and added a crooked mouth underneath them. :)

This one was your basic orange pumpkin, but it had such a perfect shape and stem that I liked it and thought I should give it the traditional jack- o- lantern look. :) I drew the face with a black sharpie and colored it in completely.

It looks odd here because it is still drying, and it's inside.... but the white paint is actually glow in the dark paint, which makes it look really cool outside. :)

This one is Miranda's! (my sister) She did a fantastic job carving it! :)

I also found these three cool pumpkins at Walmart of all places. Miranda keeps telling me they aren't pumpkins, which may be true... but, I don't know what else to call them.. Haha. I love their colors and the way they look stacked! :)
